A Year of Big Changes

Image
This past year has been  a year of big changes for us, some exciting, so less so.  It has been a lot of adjustments as well.  Still learning to work with some of the changes. On the exciting side Mike and I got married.  We just had a small ceremony in the party room at our condo but we put it together with the help of our friends and family and it was really quite lovely. Also on the exciting side, we welcomed a new kitty into our family.  Miss Pinkie (she come named Pinky, but I changed the spelling to suite myself)  is a bit high strung but we love her just the same. These are the things that have kept our spirits high while other things have been stressful or less than pleasant.

It's Been A While

Hello all, things have been super hectic since the last time I have graced these pages with words.  Life does get that way sometimes though.  For me it has been a matter of health issues seeming to take over all areas of my life pretty much blotting out anything that wasn't just surviving.  I am still in the process of testing to see what is going on with that but I have taken a major step back in the other areas of my life. I guess all in all I am taking the time right now to slow down and reconnect with myself while we figure out what is going on.  Also figuring out or rather trying to how to better take care of myself better than  I have been over the years.

Podcast of The Week: The Very Serious Crafts Podcast

Image
I just recently got into listening to podcasts and like anything that I get into I am obsessed.  It has only been a couple of days but I have hankered down and listened to so much.  The first on what is becoming a long list of favourites is  The Very Serious Crafts Podcast   I heard about this podcast ages ago because I have been a follower of  Red Handled Scissors  for quite awhile and Haley of course has mentioned it.  So as soon as I finally downloaded a podcast app it was one of the first ones that I looked for and it has been my first podcast binge. While I had not been exposed to the other two contributors in this podcast prior to listening, Mollie of  Wild Olive  and Heidi of  Hands Occupied  I am quickly becoming a huge fan of both.  While I myself am not a very serious crafter reading about other peoples crafting has always been helpful for getting my own creative ideas flowing.   Turns out that listening to other people discuss crafts, their processes, new gadgets etc is a hu

The 100 Day Project

Image
I was listening to a craft podcast this morning and they were talking about The 100 Day Project, which I have heard about before but not really been motivated to do anything myself.  This year though I am interested in doing more of the things that I love and I thought that joining in on this would be great motivation. So the next 100 Day Project starts on January 31, 2021.  Which works great for me as it gives me the month to get into the habit before the pressure is on.  For my 100 Day project I am going to crochet, not a new specific project but I would like to go through all the projects I have laying around my house that are started and not finished and hopefully finish them. So starting on January 31, please tune in on Instagram  and watch my daily progress.  Instagram not your thing?  I will post weekly updates here on the blog.   I am excited for this, I have a scarf, two blankets and a sweater on the go on the moment, some of which have been in progress for quite sometime.  B

Happy New Year

Image
Wow, I feel like it has been a long time since I have ventured into this space.  It was a rough year for everyone and I personally could not find the desire to put my thoughts out into the world.  I want to change that this year, we were talking to Cat this morning about the importance of practice to improve at things and I felt that, if I want to be good at blogging, I need to get here and blog more, maybe not every day but at least once a week. This year I have no new resolutions, I don't want to set my ambitions higher than I will be able to go but I do have some small general goals, write more, move more, craft more, read more and study more.  There are only so many hours in the day but I want to maximize my use of them this year to do more of the things that I enjoy. Do you have goals for this year? Here's a New Year's Eve selfie from me just to reestablish what I look like.

A to Z Challenge 2020: A

Image
The word that came up for A this year was anniversary and that is perfect because this year in May will mark 9 years for Mike and I.  Meeting Mike and having the joy of having someone in my life who shares all of my favourite things and is always there to support my crazy ideas has meant the world to me. Whether it is dressing up with me for conventions or waking up at insane hours in the morning to go do 5ks he is always there for me and it makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world.  I look forward to the next 9 years and beyond. Are you celebrating an anniversary this year?
